Description
Designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby for Vitra, the Tip Ton chair's name refers to the 'tipped forward' position permitted by design. Research shows that this forward-tilt position causes the spine to straighten and improves circulation to the abdominal and back muscles. With the Tip Ton chair, Barber & Osgerby desired to allow for this health-benefiting posture, which was previously the remit of mechanical office chairs. The design offers two sitting positions while remaining an economical and highly durable seating solution.

The Tip Ton RE chairs are produced from recycled household waste, particularly used packaging. This recycled material is mixed with a proportion of glass fibres to ensure stability and enerates 54% less climate-damaging emissions than using petroleum-based primary plastics. The dark grey hue of Tip Ton RE is the natural shade of the processed material and therefore may exhibit very slight irregularities in colour.
The Tip Ton RE chair is itself 100% recyclable, stackable up to four pieces, and suitable for outdoor use.
Materials
Backrest, seat, base: recycled polypropylene, 100% recyclable. Glides: recycled polyethylene. Stacking: Tip Ton RE can be stacked up to 4 chairs high on the floor, up to 11 on a stacking trolley. A stacking trolley is separately available. Outdoor use: Tip Ton RE is suitable for outdoor use.
