Description
To create Crockery, Max Lamb used masonry tools to chisel and cut solid gypsum blocks into three-dimensional models, the models were then used to create production moulds, which the final pieces are slip-cast from.
This item is functional as a bowl, whilst possessing the character to be used as a decorative piece on a table, shelf or window sill. The raw exterior of each piece reflects the modest surface texture of the original hand-carved plaster. The internal glaze offers functionality and a sleek finish whilst keeping the authentic character externally. The collection is a testament to his maxim, to use materials honestly and processes transparently, to give both their voice rather than impose his aesthetic. Each design is formed quite simply with its craft. Despite the solid, rock-like outline, the collection is lightweight and subtle. Available in white, with a glazed interior and biscuit-texture exterior.
