Crate Collection

The Crate collection is a collaborative reissue by Rietveld Originals and HAY. Originally designed in 1934 by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld, the collection was created in order to utilise excess wood from transportation crates. Rietveld’s motivation to create modern, functional, and inexpensive furnishings for the masses echoes HAY’s values, making the Crate Collection a perfect collaboration.

The collection includes a lounge chair, dining chair, low table, and side table, all reminiscent of the original design. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, today’s Crate Collection shares the same aesthetic strength and precisely balanced proportions, with its simplicity and spatial design mirroring the designer’s harmonious architectural sense.
